The color of your wine comes from the skin of the grape, but the juice itself is actually colorless. To make red wines red and rosé wines rosé, the wine must be made from black-skinned grapes. These skins must be left in contact with the juice during winemaking. If the juice is extracted and the skins are removed straight away, it’s possible to make white wine from black grapes – Champagne is a famous example of a wine made like this. When making white wine, the grape skins will typically be removed straight away. The crushed grapes undergo a process called pressing, in which a machine separates the skins and the seeds from the grape juice. The clear, sugary liquid is then fermented into white wine. This is the common process for making white wine.

The Rhode Island Red is a great chicken breed for novice owners or backyard breeders due to its laid-back nature and adaptability. These chickens are notorious for their hardiness and ability to flourish in most environments. They can endure rain, heat, and snow and do it all with a happy-go-lucky attitude. These birds were developed in the late 1800s on poultry farms in Little Compton, Rhode Island. Their popularity in the USA grew over the years, and they eventually became the state bird of Rhode Island.

Blood Falls, named for its ruddy color, is not in fact a gush of blood from some unseen wound. The color was initially chalked up to red algae, but a study in the Journal of Glaciology has uncovered its true origin using radar to scan the layers of ice from which the river pours. Imaging from underneath the glacier helped solve the mystery, revealing a complex network of subglacial rivers and a subglacial lake—all filled with brine high in iron, giving the falls its reddish tint.

Red blood cells, or erythrocytes, give blood its distinctive color and make up about 40-45% of blood's volume. Red blood cells are produced in our bone marrow where they typically live for about 120 days. The red blood cell's main function is to carry oxygen from the lungs and deliver it throughout our body. Red blood cells also transport waste such as carbon dioxide back to our lungs to be exhaled. Red blood cells can carry oxygen due to a protein called hemoglobin. Hemoglobin is made of two main parts: the "heme" group and the "globin" group. The heme group contains iron which gives the red color to the red blood cell. The globin group is a protein that helps the red blood cell carry and hold oxygen in place as it moves throughout the body.

Red pandas can be easily identified by their unique ruddy coat color, which acts like camouflage within the canopy of fir trees where branches are covered with clumps of reddish-brown moss and white lichens.

The colors on a primary rainbow are always in order of their wavelength, from longest to shortest: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and violet. Rainbows are actually full circles. The antisolar point is the center of the circle. Viewers in aircraft can sometimes see these circular rainbows.

Red velvet cake is typically covered in a French-style butter roux icing, though recently cream cheese frosting and buttercream have both been used as a simpler and tastier alternative. During World War II and the Depression, this moist cake got its vibrant coloring from boiled beets but has since adapted into red food coloring courtesy of a Texan company called Adams Extract. The cake gets its light and fluffy texture from the reaction caused by mixing buttermilk and vinegar together in addition to eggs, sugar, butter, baking soda, flour, cocoa powder, and salt.

The Red River emerges from two forks in the Texas panhandle and flows east approximately 1,290 miles, forming the border between Oklahoma and Texas as well as part of the border between Texas and Arkansas. In southwestern Arkansas near Fulton (Hempstead County), the Red River takes a decidedly southern turn before entering Louisiana, where it flows southeasterly before emptying into the Mississippi River northeast of the town of Simmesport. Although only approximately 180 miles of the Red River touches upon or passes through the state of Arkansas, it has had a major impact on the people of southwestern Arkansas from prehistoric times to the present day.
